The Iowa Association of Track Coaches held their annual clinic and meeting in Ames over the weekend. The activities included presenting awards to coaches on Saturday, some of whom are from the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

Gerry Stein of Jefferson received the Junior High Coach of the Year Award. Stein, a former football coach for the Rams, has been the middle school cross-country coach for Jefferson-Scranton and now Greene County, for close to 20 years.

Greene County head coach Kelly Simpson and Panorama (Panora) head coach Greg Thompson both received At Large awards for coaching Class 2A girls.Both coaches had teams in the State meet on Nov. 2 north of Ft. Dodge. Laura Kautman of Heart of Iowa Activities Conference member Gilbert, the state champions, was named State Coach of the Year.
