DSCN0365Earlier today a water service line to the Greene County Middle School in Jefferson cracked and started bubbling water on the east side of the building forcing the Jefferson City crews to block the road on that side of the building.

City Administrator Mike Palmer says when the street department went out to shut off the water to the service line, the shut off valve started leaking.  It was decided that since the building receives plenty of water and with basketball games taking place tonight and tomorrow night, that the City will wait until Sunday to repair the line.

Palmer notes that no actual water main broke, and everyone can still use the facilities at the middle school, you may just experience low water pressure.  No one was in danger at the time, adds Palmer, and the building is safe to use.

Dean Lansman with Greene County High School says the anyone going to the basketball games are to enter from Highway 4 on the west side and park on either the north side of the middle school or on the south end of the South Grade Building.  You can still use the main entrance to the gym on the east side.

Palmer states that the service line will be repaired and fully operational by Sunday afternoon.
