ADMWhile the ADM girls basketball team rolled to a blowout win last Friday against Carroll, tomorrow’s test against 7-1 Ballard won’t be nearly as easy.

The Bombers are currently ranked 6th in Class 4-A, and they just knocked off another ranked foe in the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs on Tuesday.

ADM is 1-1 on the season against ranked teams, and head coach Brett Watson says his girls will be ready for tomorrow’s challenge.

“They’re well-coached… a very, very good tradition.  They’ve been in the state tournament multiple times recently so we’ll have our hands full, but with this weird schedule we’ve had an opportunity to see them quite a bit and prepare for them–hopefully that will be to our advantage.  We just have to play good basketball, and (then) we’ll see what happens.”

Watson says the key for the Tigers tomorrow will be slowing down the Bombers’ sophomore guard Gabie Doud, who is averaging 17 points per game and shooting 57% from the field.

“She’s a very unique (player) because she plays point guard for them but she does the majority of their posting up, and she gets to the free-throw line a ton… so we have to make sure we don’t put her on the line because she’ll capitalize.”

Watson says he expects stingy defender Brianna Mueller to draw the assignment of defending Doud tomorrow.  The girls’ contest between ADM and Ballard will tip-off at 6pm, but pregame coverage will start as usual at 5:45 on K107.
