Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 10:24am on Thursday, a two vehicle accident happened at 210th Street and N Avenue.

Haupert states that 61 year-old Fon John Murphy of Jefferson was turning west onto 210th Street, when 18 year-old Ashna Maries Grife of Scranton was following too closely and rear-ended Murphy’s 2003 Nissan Frontier truck.

He comments that the Grife was distracted and didn’t react in time to notice Murphy was turning.  He reminds everyone to be mindful and concentrate on driving, especially during the busy holiday season.

“A lot of things on people’s minds, holiday time, we’re in a hurry but it’s always good when we can arrive safe and sound to wherever our destination is.”

Haupert notes that no one was injured in the accident and that Murphy’s pickup sustained $1,500 in damages to a trailer while Grife’s 2004 Pontiac Grand AM, that’s owned by Shawn Gifford of Jefferson, suffered $5,000 in damages.  Grife was cited for failure to stop in a safe assured distance.
