ADMThe ADM Tigers split with the Ballard Bombers in their girls/boys varsity doubleheader last night in Adel.

In the first game, the ADM girls pulled out a hard-fought 41-39 win over the 3rd-ranked Bombers after trailing a majority of the contest.  The Tigers did not take their first lead until 34-33 with 5:19 remaining in the ball game, and found a way to pull out the win in the end.

Ballard regained the lead at 39-33 after going on a 6-0 run, but Sydney Bertman’s offensive rebound and put-back jumper with 20 seconds remaining ultimately put the Tigers over the top.

Bertman led ADM in scoring on the night with 12 points.  Molly Jacobsen contributed 11.

With the win, Brett Watson’s club enters its winter break 4-2 on the year, and more importantly, an unblemished 3-0 in Raccoon River Conference play.

Unfortunately for Tiger fans, the ADM boys’ come-from-behind attempt fell a little bit short, as Aaron Mager’s crew fell to Ballard 66-59 in game two.

The Tigers entered the fourth quarter trailing by 12, but rallied multiple times in the final stanza to pull to within 6 at two minutes remaining.  However, four missed free throws in the final two minutes prevented ADM from completing the comeback.

Logan Essy and Jackson VerWoert each scored 17 points on the night to pace the Tigers, who now enter their winter break at 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
