The Greene County wrestling team is still more than a week away from competing in 2014, but practices are underway for the Jan. 9 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference double-dual meet in Jewell vs. South Hamilton and North Polk (Alleman). Several Rams had outstanding Decembers on the mat including sophomore Tommy Bradshaw. He stands at 14-1 overall with most of his matches at 145 lbs. Bradshaw dropped a weight class to 138 lbs. just before Christmas and won the weight class at the Dec. 21 Tiger-Knight Invitational in Carroll at the lower weight.
Bradshaw was asked how he feels at 138 lbs. “I feel like my stamina has increased. At 145, I had just one match that went the full six minutes, but I was tired. I went through all my matches at Carroll and wasn’t tired at all.” Bradshaw went 33-15 last season at 145 lbs. in Carthage, Missouri as a ninth grader and was a Missouri State tournament qualifier. He’s part of the middle of the Greene County lineup that went a combined 78-9 from 120 lbs. through 152 lbs. in the first month of the season.
