The Greene County High School boys’ basketball team has a 4-3 record at the break and is 4-2 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Sophomore Trey Tucker is leading all of Class 3A in scoring at 27.0 per game, which ranks third among all players in all classes of Iowa high school basketball. The 5′ 10″ guard is making 56.3 percent of his shots from the field including 39% from three-point range. A varsity starter since day one of his freshman season, people that have seen him play know he can score. But, the left-hander also leads the Rams in assists at just over three per game, is the team leader in steals per game at 2.57, and he’s second on the team in rebounds at 4.6 per contest.

Head Coach Jeramie Hinote believes the assist total will go up. “I think those numbers are just going to go up because the shooters he’s passing the ball to are going to shoot the ball a lot better (than the first seven games). Led by Tucker’s 56.3% shooting, the Greene County team has a field goal accuracy of 45.8 through one-third of the regular season. The team is shooting 32.3% from three-point range, and 61.7% from the free throw line.

The Rams scrimmage in Ogden vs. the Bulldogs and Colo-Nesco on Saturday, Jan. 3 before getting back to regular season play on Tuesday, Jan. 6 in Des Moines vs. Saydel.
