basketball thru hoopThe ADM boys basketball team will be back on the hardwood this evening against conference foe Carlisle after going 1-1 this past weekend in games against Boone and Harlan.

The Tigers eeked out a 44-43 win over Boone on Friday to snap a five-game losing streak before falling to Harlan, the No. 1 team in Class 3-A, on Saturday.

Head coach Aaron Mager reflects on his team’s weekend performances.

“To be honest with you, I thought we probably played a little better against Harlan than we did against Boone.  In saying that though, it was nice to get a win against Boone, that was something we really needed.  I like the way we competed against Harlan and their size.  So in talking to the guys after the game, I told the guys how proud I was with their effort, on the glass especially.”

While the Tigers ultimately lost the rebounding battle to the Cyclones, that was due in large part to leading rebounder Jacob Hardy’s absence from the lineup for the majority of the second half.  Hardy suffered a hip flexor injury early on in the third quarter and did not return.  He is questionable to play for ADM tonight.

Looking at tonight’s matchup with the 4-3 Carlisle Wildcats, Coach Mager says his Tigers need to do a better job of protecting their home floor.  ADM is 2-4 at home this season.

Mager explains what his team can do tonight to improve on that home record.

“We’ve got to take their three better players out of the equation as much as possible, which means we’re going to have to take care of the ball, we’re going to have to play good half-court defense.  We’re also going to have to find a way to execute offensively without our 5-man in there… we’ll have to adapt a little bit if Jacob can’t play.”

A win for the Tigers this evening would get them back to .500 in conference play.

The ADM vs. Carlisle boys’ contest will begin, as usual, 15 minutes following the conclusion of the girls’ contest, which tips at 6pm.  Pregame coverage tonight begins at 5:45 on K107.
