Dallas Center Mayor Mitch Hambleton has announced his candidacy for Dallas County Treasurer.
The Republican says he’s committed to public service and feels like the treasurer’s office is the right fit at this time where he can put his years of business and government experience to work for the citizens of Dallas County.
Hambleton is in his ninth year as mayor of Dallas Center. Before that he spent eight years on the town’s City Council and has served as Chairman of the Dallas County Republican party for 10 years.
He currently works as a controller at a West Des Moines insurance company and is a certified public accountant. Hambleton’s other involvements include being a found of Common Thread, active in the Boy Scouts of American and currently serving as the Outdoor Adventures Chair for the Mid-Iowa Council.
The Dallas County Treasurer’s office is currently run by Republican Darrell Bauman who is in his serving his fifth term after first being elected in 1996. Earlier this month Bauman announced he will not seek re-election this fall and plans to retire at the end of 2014.
