The early retirement incentive has proved to be a popular one in the Perry school district this year.
Four more teachers have been approved to take advantage of this opportunity after the current school year.
High school instrumental music instructor Steven Cook, elementary paraeducator Beatriz Salas, elementary Title I reading teacher Christine Russel and elementary special needs teacher Laura McCord all plan to retire. This is on top of the four staff members who were approved for early retirement during the December school board meeting.
As always, Superintendent Lynn Ubben says it’s bittersweet to see these teachers leave but she’s happy they’re able to offer them this opportunity.
Staff members have until March 15th to submit an application for early retirement.
