Perry junior Claire Marburger has aspirations of playing college basketball some day.  The numbers that she has put up this year indicate that she might be closer than she thinks.  Bondurant Farrar was Marburger’s latest victim when the power forward scored 26 points in raising her season average to 23 points per game.  “AAU basketball was really big for me.  I learned a lot from the players and coaches and just getting the experience to play with and against some of the nation’s best players.  Some of the girls I played against are athletes that could up end up at a program like Connecticut.  That’s pretty awesome and it forces you to be better.”

Marburger has also improved her rebounding total this year averaging close to 8 boards a night to lead the Jayettes.  She also leads the team with 22 blocked shots.  Marburger is currently the second leading scorer in Class 4A and recently eclipsed the 1000 point plateau at Perry High School and is a little more than 200 points away from the school’s all time five on five record…not bad for just a junior.

Perry will take their 11-1, and 5-1 conference record on the road to battle Boone tomorrow night.  Action can be heard on KDLS beginning at 5:45.
