basketball thru hoopThe ADM girls basketball team is looking not only to snap a six-game losing streak tonight against the visiting Pella Dutch, but to also win its first game of the 2014 calendar year.

The Tigers are winless since they came back from Christmas Break, and head coach Brett Watson says his team’s struggles continue to be rooted in a single word: inconsistency.

“We’ve got to put it together a little bit, and a lot of that is coming on the offensive end where we’re just not putting the ball through the hoop.  That gets discouraging, kind of deflating so you’re energy falls down a little bit… and right now we need a lift, we need something to go positive for some confidence to come back.  We just need some things to go our way.”

It won’t be an easy task trying to restore that confidence against the Dutch tonight, who aren’t currently ranked, but have won five straight games and boast an impressive 9-4 record.

“Pella is a great team, they’re very athletic, they’re big–they’re just playing very good basketball right now.  Hopefully as we get back to our own home cooking we get some things going our way with our own rims, our own hoop and our own home crowd.  Again, we just need something to go our way to get a little spark going for us,” Watson says.

After tonight’s home contest against Pella, the Tigers go on the road for four straight games.  ADM has not won a game on the road this season.

Pregame coverage of tonight’s varsity doubleheader begins at 5:45 on K107.
