The Greene County girls’ basketball team topped winless Colfax-Mingo in Colfax on Tuesday night and set a new five-on-five single game scoring record in the process. Coach Chad Morton’s team won 85-37 to improve to 7-7 overall and 6-6 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play in a contest heard on KG98.

Junior point guard Jolee Wessling had a career high 18 points and junior forward Kayla Mobley added 16. Juniors Hannah Onken and Tressa Rasmussen added 13 and 10 points, respectively. The Rams were 34 of 71 from the field and 11 of 16 from the free throw line.

C-M was 12 of 34 from the floor and nine of 17 from the foul line. The Tigerhawks (0-12, 0-11) had 35 turnovers while the Rams were charged with 19 turnovers.

Greene County plays in Baxter on Jan. 24 vs. CMB. Coverage on KG98 starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
