ADMAfter being delayed a couple days due to the recent snowstorm, ADM girls basketball coach Brett Watson and his team are in action this evening against their arch-nemesis–the Perry Jayettes.

The Jayettes are currently ranked fourth in Class 4-A and boast an impressive 16-2 overall record.  One of those wins was a 56-36 blowout over ADM back on January 7th.

“That game was indicative of our whole 2014 here–inconsistency.  We played pretty good basketball for about a half, maybe two and a half quarters and then the wheels just kind of fell off.”

The Tigers did trail by just one at halftime, 22-21.  Coach Watson says poor rebounding was the reason behind Perry’s big second half, as the Jayettes collected too many offensive rebounds and got easy looks for second chance points.

Controlling the glass is one of Coach Watson’s keys tonight if ADM is going to avenge its game one loss to Perry.  Here is key number two:

“It’s all about getting stops.  I mean defense wins championships; I think you saw that in the Super Bowl last Sunday.  When you can get stops and shut down an offense and make it difficult for them, then good things happen.  In order to get those stops, we’ll need all five girls on the same page defensively, talking and communicating.  If we get those stops and then hopefully get some run-outs, get to playing the tempo we want to be at… I think we’ll be pretty successful.”

Coverage of tonight’s varsity doubleheader between ADM and Perry begins at 5:45 on both K107 and AM 1310 KDLS.
