wrestlingThe pressure on ADM’s wrestlers will be at an all-time high this Saturday.  With the postseason having finally arrived, each match is a do-or-die–the winner moves on and the loser goes home.

Given the heightened mental challenge of the weekend action ahead, head coach Justin Schmauss explains how he’s handling preparatory practices this week.

“(We’re) trying to keep this week pretty fun, pretty light-hearted.  (We’ve) let them know that they need to be working hard when they are working but to not too much pressure on themselves because you definitely wear yourself out mentally… you don’t want to put that extra added heat on yourself when there is already enough.”

Schmauss says technique work and quality drilling has been the Tigers focal point in practice this week, as he simply tries to fine-tune his wrestlers’ skills in advance of their biggest matches of the season.

“(It’s) just paying attention to detail now, mentally preparing our guys for who they’re going to wrestle.  We think we’ll have a pretty good idea who our matchups will be, and based on what we’ve seen from them earlier this year, we’re helping our guys get a feel for what’s going to be coming their way.”

Tune-in to tomorrow’s sports on K107 as we preview what those matchups could look like come Saturday.
