The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday.
The Board approved the 2013 calendar for salaries and wages for employees and the county recorder’s report of fees for January of $3,536.
Chair John Muir also signed a contract to receive the funds for the Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy Grant that the county was awarded from the Iowa Department of Transportation in November.
The Board also set March 3rd for a public hearing on the 2015 fiscal year budget review for the county.
The Supervisors discussed passing a future resolution in support of raising the gas tax for road use funds but didn’t take action on the topic.
There was brief discussion with Jefferson City Engineer John Milligan on a conference call about hiring a structural engineer to do an assessment of the Mahanay Bell Tower following the status and plan updates from last week’s meeting. Milligan suggested using the same engineering firm from Marshalltown who originally did the assessment of how to configure a new bell frame to fit 48 bells on top of the tower.
And due to the courthouse being closed on Monday, February 17th for President’s Day, the Supervisors will only meet one time that week on Thursday, February 20th.
