The Greene County varsity basketball teams play in the brand new North Polk High School in Alleman tonight. The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader will be broadcast on KG98 with coverage at 5:45 p.m. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.  This is the second new high school in the conference. Gilbert opened their new building in August and the Greene County teams played in Gilbert on Jan. 3. The middle school gym in Jefferson is easily the oldest varsity basketball facility in the conference. 2014 marks its 60th anniversary.

The Rams hope to turn the tables on the Comets as NP won 46-42 in the girls’ game and 82-77 in overtime in the boys when the teams met a month ago in Jefferson. The Comets are ranked ninth in 3A girls basketball while the other three teams playing tonight are not among the class leaders.
