A Scranton man was arrested on alcohol and drug related charges outside of a Jefferson gas station on Wednesday.

Jefferson Police Chief Dave Morlan says at 4:51am an officer responded to a call of a male passed out in front of Sparky’s One Stop gas station at 606 East Highway 30.

Following an investigation by the responding officer, Chief Morlan states that 20 year-old Alex Dankel of Scranton was arrested and is accused of a serious misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and simple misdemeanors for possession of an alcoholic beverage under the age of 21 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Morlan notes that Dankel was booked and released later in the day from the Greene County Jail on his own recognizance.  A trial date has not been set yet.
