dallas countyAs we reported yesterday, property taxes in Dallas County will decrease slightly during fiscal year 2015 based on the budget passed by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday evening.

Seven of the county’s service areas will see a decrease in their overall budget during the next fiscal year compared to the amount budgeted for this current fiscal year.

Public safety and legal will see a $253,280 decrease, the public health and social service area will see an $8,482 decrease and the mental health, mental retardation and developmental disabilities area will see a drop of $790,470.

Roads and transportation will see the biggest drop in funding for FY 2015 with a $2,026,775 decrease.  County environment and education will drop by $58,837, the administration budget will drop by $860,193 and government services to residents will decrease by $44,978.

Still, according to the Supervisors every $2.59 in tax dollars received is worth $5.49 in county provided services.
