Cyclists, trail advocates, business leaders and community members are invited to attend a day-long conference in Perry next month to learn more about how to generate economic impact from recreational trails.

The “Bike Trail Tourism – Getting More Out of Your Trail” conference will take place at the Hotel Pattee on Thursday, April 10th.

Sponsored by the Center for Towncraft in Perry and Common Thread, the event will include speakers and panel discussions on a variety of topics. The goal is to help communities learn how to get more out of these valuable community assets like the Raccoon River Valley Trail and High Trestle Trail.

The event will kick off at 9am and session topics include best business practices for the trails, local way-finding, public art on the trails and best practices using technology.

The cost to attend is $20 per person which includes lunch and all conference materials.

Pre-registration is required by April 7th and checks can be made out to the City of Perry and mailed to P.O. Box 545.

For more information, contact Perry City Administrator Butch Niebuhr at 465-2481 or Alan Vandehaar with ISU Extension at 231-6513.
