In what is its golden anniversary year , the Guthrie County Pork Producers Association is hosting its annual banquet tomorrow evening, and President Jeff Meiners says all are invited from the local area.

With it being the 50th annual banquet, Meiners has invited past presidents and pork queens back for this year’s event with the hopes of making it a special celebration.

But will it be special enough to raise more than the $4,500 the Association’s banquet raised last year?

“If that happens that would be great.  You always hope for more because most of the money we raise from pies and trophies go to the scholarships and back to the county 4-H kids and the FFA (chapters) so.”

If any area residents are interested in attending the Pork Producers’ banquet, tickets are $12.50 at the door, and it takes place in the Guthrie County Fairgrounds’ Community Building.

The dinner begins with a social hour at 5:30 tomorrow evening.  Entertainment from comedian Willie Farrell will also be featured at the event along with a pie and trophy fundraising auction.
