GREENE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE NEWS RELEASE

March 10th, 2014 through March 16th, 2014

 

3/10       9:59 am, a deputy was advised of a vehicle leaving Paton in which the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. Boone County was also given the vehicle description.

3:23 pm, a deputy was advised of a vehicle that was experiencing mechanical problems in the 1100 block of N Avenue. The vehicle was reported to be off the roadway and would be removed on Tuesday. A deputy later placed a 24 hour removal tag upon the vehicle.

3:33 pm, a deputy was dispatched to Rippey for the report of gun shots being heard. The deputy determined that the sounds were actually fireworks being set off.

4:51 pm, a deputy was asked to assist a towing company with the removal of a vehicle in the 2000 block of M Avenue due to bank repossession.

8:49 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 2300 block of 170th Street to help mediate a domestic family dispute.

10:30 pm, a deputy is investigating a reported harassment complaint in the 800 block of North Street in Churdan.

11:16 pm, a deputy was asked to try and locate a suspicious vehicle near the water treatment plant in Grand Junction. The vehicle was not located at that time.

11:51 pm, a deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Kum & Go in Perry that may be entering Greene County. The vehicle was not located at that time but a license plate description was given.

3/11       10:07 am, a deputy is investigating the theft of scrap iron from a rural farmstead in the 100 block of 185th Street.

3:03 pm, a deputy was advised of three dogs running at large in the 1800 block of M Avenue.

7:25 pm, a deputy checked a residence at 800 Percival, lot 6, in Grand Junction and subsequently arrested Arthur Henry Chambers, 45 of Grand Junction for a violation of his probation. The deputy informed the probation officer of his taking Mr. Chambers into custody.

11:25 pm, dispatchers at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center received an abandoned E-911 call that mapped to a residence in the 600 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction. The deputy checked the residence and found everything to be in order.

3/12       12:11 am, a deputy checked a residence at 16th and Kelley in Grand Junction after an abandoned E-911 call was initiated from that residence. Everything was determined to be in order.

4:51 am, a deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer in securing a car after the police officer conducted field sobriety and the subsequent arrest of a male subject.

8:04 am, a deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. The vehicle was reported to have gone east on 220th Street upon leaving Casey’s. Boone County was also advised of the drive off. The vehicle was not located by the deputy.

2:42 pm, a deputy was advised of a reported female hitchhiker on Highway 30 (220th St.) entering Greene County from Boone County. The female was not located at that time.

3:25 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Cartwright Street in Rippey for a reported large black dog that had severely injured a smaller dog and the owner of the small dog as she tried to stop the larger shepherd  from attacking her dog. Several deputies were not able to locate the dog at that time but will attempt to find the dog as soon as possible.

10:00 pm, a deputy was advised of a vehicle that became stuck in a farm field driveway on 250th Street near E Avenue as it attempted to turn around. The vehicle was removed by the vehicle owner.

3/13       11:00 am, a deputy was asked to perform a welfare check at a residence in the 300 block of Hill Street in Churdan. The female was found to be safe and in good spirits.

11:09 am, a deputy is investigating the report of possible identity theft by means of a Social Security Number being compromised. The IRS has been advised of the situation.

4:16 pm, a deputy was advised of 4-wheel ATV’s and dirt bikes being ridden on the roadway near the boat ramp on J Avenue. The ATV’s were not located at this time but the investigation is ongoing.

6:10 pm, a deputy helped a Rippey resident with a child custody civil issue that occurred in another county.

7:56 pm, a deputy responded to car-deer accident that occurred on N Avenue near 257th Street. A 2011 Chevrolet Impala being driven by Pauline Maxine Hadley of Bayard, Iowa, was south bound on N Avenue when a deer ran onto the roadway and struck the Hadley vehicle on the passenger side.  Pauline Hadley was not injured but her vehicle sustained an estimated $2000 in damages.

9:40 pm, a deputy was advised of two deer being struck on Highway 30 near J Avenue. The deer were removed from the roadway.

3/14       1:59 am, a deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of State Street in Scranton for the report someone disturbing the home owner by knocking on the windows and doors at that residence.

7:15 am, a deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle along the roadway on 220th Street near U Avenue and placed a 24 hour removal sticker on the pickup.

5:07 pm, a deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Sparky’s One Stop in Churdan. A vehicle description was given but was not located at that time by the deputy. The deputy will be reviewing the store video when available on Monday.

5:13 pm, a deputy spoke with a resident in the 700 block of South 11th Street in Grand Junction about a barking dog complaint.

5:18 pm, a deputy was unable to find a reported careless and erratic driver on 235th Street near Grand Junction.

8:36 pm, a deputy issued a DNR salvage tag for a deer that had been struck on R Avenue near 290th Street.

8:41 pm, a deputy was advised of a vehicle experiencing mechanical problems on 230th Street near the Grand Junction Cemetery.

9:13 pm, deputy’s from both Greene and Carroll County checked the report of a possible under age party near B Avenue and 170th Street. Everyone at the party was evaluated and later released to the custody of their parents.

9:40 pm, a deputy was advised of two vehicles running a stop sign and driving erratic, that were entering Jefferson on 235th Street or Old Highway 30. A Jefferson Police Officer spoke with both drivers.

3/15       12:22 am, a deputy arrested Jose Eduardo Zambrano, 19 of Carroll, Iowa, after a traffic stop on 170th Street and B Avenue for Possession of Alcohol by a Person Under Age 21.

1:15 pm, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office was advised of two dogs that were taken by a Grand Junction resident to the animal shelter in Boone.

3:25 pm, a deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle on N Avenue north of Highway 30.

7:54 pm, a deputy transported a Greene County jail inmate to the Greene County Medical Center for a medical evaluation.

3/16       8:07 am, a deputy responded to a one vehicle rollover accident that was near the Webster-Greene County line. The vehicle was determined to be in Webster County.

12:15 pm, a deputy was asked to check for two dogs reported running at large in the 400 block of 210th Street. The dogs were not located by the deputy.

12:39 pm, a deputy was asked to perform a welfare check on a male subject in the 700 block of Madison Street in Scranton. The male was found to be safe.

2:07 a deputy was dispatched to the Sparky’s One Stop in Churdan to take a report after the building had been struck by a vehicle. The accident is under investigation at this time.

2:11 pm, a deputy is investigating a harassment complaint in the 600 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction.

3:53 pm, a deputy on routine patrol in Grand Junction identified and subsequently arrested Jose Trinidad Hernandez, 24 of Grand Junction on an outstanding arrest warrant for Possession of Prescription Medications, two counts a Serious Misdemeanor.

 

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
