Tiger stripe pawThe spring and summer athletic seasons are fast approaching at high schools throughout the local area, including at Guthrie Center, where Booster Club President Lori Hix is hoping to get her town’s Chamber of Commerce more involved with her organization’s popular concession stand.

The stand is the Booster Club’s primary fundraising source, and while it continues to be successful with each sports season, Hix says the Club could use some help with “manpower” at certain events, and that is where she’s asking the Chamber to make an impact.

“We would like to have some businesses… like have a business night where they could have people from their business come in, they could wear their business shirts, we’ll announce that they’re helping us with the stand.  They could even put up a little sign.  So it’s kind of a win-win for them (and us).  It gives them a little advertising, it gets them involved with us and the school, and then it gets us involved with the businesses.”

Hix says any area businesses interested in working the concession stand for a night will solely be asked to provide labor.  All of the food, cooking and other event responsibilities will still be handled by the Booster Club.
