Several Guthrie County area high school students garnered All-State recognition for their performances this past weekend at the state speech contest through the Iowa High School Speech Association.

In all, thirteen students from the county’s five school districts were named All-State honorees, and they will all move on to compete in the All-State Festival on Monday, March 31st at UNI. The programs will begin at 8:30 that morning.  The All-State nominees are as follows:

From Adair-Casey, Onae Parker and Kennedy Plowman for storytelling.

From Coon Rapids-Bayard, Abby Hoffman for radio news and Mitchell Klocke for poetry.

From Guthrie Center, Maria Ahrens for poetry.

From Panorama, K.C. Gafkjen and Joseph James for poetry, and Allison Meinecke for solo musical theatre.

And from West Central Valley, Shawn Murphy and Vince Doud for acting, Caroline Doud for her literary program, Liam Crawford for original oratory, and last but not least, Jackson Doud for his performance in storytelling.
