Hispanics United for Perry are starting up a new quarterly event next month that aims to bring the area’s many cultures together.

The Delibrate Bilingual open house event kicks off Friday, April 11th at the Center for Town Craft in Perry.

HUP member Mary Murphy says each event will showcase two local community members in a casual and comfortable setting.

“Each of these events we will showcase an Anglo Perry community leader and a Hispanic Latino Perry community leader.  What we’re trying to promote is one of the bridges of the community coming together and getting to know each other” says Murphy.

April’s event will feature City of Perry finance officer Susie Moorhead and the owner of the Humerto Hernandez Mexican Bakery.

“We’re going to have English and then Spanish, then Spanish and English and then that way we’ll have enough bilingual people there that we can get to know each other.  And that’s the whole premise of it, let’s get to know each other on this basis.”

The free event takes place from 4-5:30pm and everyone is invited to attend.
