Greene County ExtensionThe Greene County ISU Extension office will be holding one final opportunity for private pesticide applicator training next week.

Coordinator Michael Cooley says these trainings are for anyone in the county who applies restricted-use pesticides on property that they own or rent.  He points out that each year, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources requires pesticide applicators to re-certify and that this is their last workshop for the spring.

He stresses that this is just a re-certification course and describes what you need to do to become certified again.

“You must be already certified and have your certification up-to-date and current in order to be re-certified through this training.  If you’ve happen to let it slip and missed a year of training or no longer certified you do have to take a test through the Iowa Department of Agricultural and Land Stewardship in order to become re-certified and then you can attend these courses as well.”

It will be from 1:30-3:30pm on Monday, March 24th at the Clover Hall on the county fairgrounds in Jefferson with registration beginning at 12:30pm.

Cooley recommends that you get there early to sign up because state law prohibits anyone from coming in late to the training session.  No pre-registration is required.
