teen-mazeGreene County seventh graders will be traveling to the Boone County Fairgrounds tomorrow for an event called Teen Maze.

Greene County ISU Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says county seventh graders will be at the Exhibit Building on the fairgrounds in Boone and they will go through a maze learning about different topics that they might have to deal with later on in their lives.

He points out that some of the topics that will be covered are career planning, relationships and drug and alcohol use.

Greene County Middle School Principal Shawn Zanders says this is a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with qualified volunteers to learn about those risky behaviors.

“Without having that opportunity always to get that information from experts in the field, like they’ll encounter on Thursday, would take a lot for us to bring those people into the building and then get each of our students to interact.  So it’s just a great opportunity.”

He adds that he’s very appreciative of having the school board and superintendent Tim Christensen’s support for this program.  He will be sending 80 students as well as another 18 students from Paton-Churdan will be going on the trip.
