Several Perry High School students performed well at the state individual speech contest earlier this month and one student has been selected for the All State Speech Festival.
Samantha Sweet received 1 ratings in both the public address and storytelling categories, and will perform her storytelling piece at the University of Northern Iowa on Monday.
Three other Perry students who performed in multiple state categories including Sierra Coleman who received 1s in both individual improvisation and acting, Gabi Huntington received a 1 rating in storytelling and a 2 in solo musical theater and Kelly Wilhelmi earned 2s in both spontaneous speaking and individual improvisation.
In addition, Kat Leesley received a 1 in acting, Taylor Weiland earned a 1 in poetry, Sarah Sweet received a 1 in storytelling and Christian Loaiza got a 1 in musical theater.
Earning 2 ratings at state were Rose DeLauter in expository address, Andy Wolter in prose, Rebecca Dobsonin acting and Maryha Rosas Kirkman in radio news announcing.
