The Greene County Medical Center recently received a two-year donation of sleep sacks for newborns by the Beta Tau Delta sorority of Jefferson.

Member Carole Custer says their group helps fund projects that benefit children in the community and they felt that using some of the money that was raised during their Virtual Charity Ball was a good fit for them to help with.

She comments that they have provided sleep sacks before and when they found out that the medical center was low on their supply, they chose to fund it for two more years.

Custer states that sleep sacks are wearable blankets that don’t interfere with an infant’s breathing like loose blankets and bedding can.  She adds that medical center staff use them to model correct usage and to help new parents to prevent their child from contracting Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
