imagesComing into the girls track season, one of the main goals ADM head coach Bart Mueller wanted to get accomplished was qualifying as many events as possible for the Drake Relays.

Yes, other meets are more important like conference, district and state, but qualifying for Drake is a good measuring stick for teams as they enter the second half of their seasons.

The Tigers had to get all of their events qualified for Drake last week since they’ve been off this week, and Mueller says he likes where they stand.

“Especially if Brianna (Mueller) gets in in the 800, I don’t think we could have done much more.  On paper, it looked like we should be able to get those relays in but things don’t always fall in place with weather, handoffs, and so we kind of got through all that.  We were fortunate (too), we had some pretty good nights to run last week… Monday, Thursday, Friday were all nice and the girls seized the opportunity.”

So given this week’s break in the action, what have the ADM girls been working on to make sure they maintain their form?  Coach Mueller explains…

“(We’ve) been getting back into training, lifting weights and technique work again because we really only had one practice last week… Then we have two meets coming up Monday and Tuesday to get back at it.”

Those meets early next week will be at Jefferson-Scranton and at Dallas Center-Grimes.  The big one next week though is obviously the Drake Relays, which begin on Thursday.
