The prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines are this week and Greene County High School will be represented. The Rams qualified the 10 flight shuttle hurdle relay for the preliminaries Saturday, April 26 at 8 a.m. Just 16 schools statewide qualify for the shuttle hurdle relay. Drake sets what events it accepts and the number of qualifiers. Only the 400 meter low hurdles with eight qualifiers has fewer than 16. The 4 x 100 meter relay has the most qualifiers among high school events at 80.

The Rams were fourteenth fastest to qualify and they did so with senior Kate Sandage, juniors Sarah Sandage and Eme Johnson, and freshman Nadia Fisher. Sarah Sandage missed the April 17 Perry Jayette Relays due to a school related trip to Central America. Head coach Kelly Simpson reports the younger of the Sandage sisters will also miss the Ram Relays later today (Monday) due to the trip.
