Greene County was second on both the girls and boys sides of things on Monday night in Jefferson at the Greene County Rams Relays held at Linduska Field. Carroll won the boys’ title with Boone taking the girls’ crown.

Dean Lansman is the head coach of the Greene County boys. His team won its division in Des Moines on April 17 at the Saydel Eagles Invitational prior to being Ram Relays runners-up. Kelly Simpson coaches the Greene County girls and his team has been first once and second twice in the last three meets.

Coach Simpson told Raccoon Valley Radio his team was still missing some girls due to a school-related trip outside the U.S., then some illness issues cropped up during Monday’s meet. “We need to have a good week of practice and get ready for next week.” he said. The Greene County girls don’t compete the rest of this week, except for the shuttle hurdle relay, which qualified for the Drake Relays in Des Moines. They’ll run at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.

The Greene County boys are in the Thursday, April 24 Tiger-Knight Relays in Carroll starting at 4:30 p.m.
