Greene County sophomore Daric Whipple is a four-sport athlete who has been having success on the track for the Rams, especially as of late in the 400 meter low hurdles. Whipple has set personal bests in his last two races in that event including winning a 400 meter low hurdles race for the first time as a varsity performer at the April 21 Ram Relays in Jefferson. He went under the one minute mark for the first time in winning in 59.41 seconds, then he  lowered his personal best on April 24 at the Tiger-Knight Relays in Carroll on a windy, chilly evening by running 58.69 seconds. Whipple told Raccoon Valley Radio he wants to keep lowering his time and eventually get under 57 seconds this season, and that’s something a Ram sophomore hasn’t accomplished in recent seasons.

He is also the Rams quarterback in football, a wrestler in the winter, and the likely center fielder for the Greene County baseball team, which starts practice next week. Not that four sports, plus weight lifting, camps, and other activities, don’t already keep him busy, but Whipple will be involved in both track and baseball for the final three weeks of the track and field season.
