The 2014 high school boys’ golf season ended on Friday in Atlantic for the Greene County Rams. Coach Dave Destival’s team was last in an eight-team field at a Class 3A Sectional held at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club. The coach reports the start of the meet was delayed an hour on the chilly morning so that frost on the greens would  melt.

Atlantic shot 302 for the 18 holes with Harlan at 303 and Creston 305. All three advance to District play on May 23. Denison-Schleswig was fourth at 312, followed by ADM (Adel) 319, Shenandoah 326, Glenwood 357, and 388 for Greene County.

Sophomore Bryce Burkhardt led Greene County at 93. Seniors Will Meinecke, Wesley Tipton, and Caleb McKim were at 96, 99, and 100, respectively.

The Greene County girls golfers play in a Class 3A District tournament today at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club. Others in the field are Atlantic, Clarinda, Clarke (Osceola), North Polk (Alleman), Red Oak, Shenandoah, and West Central Valley (Stuart).
