The High School Coed State Track and Field meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines ended on Saturday with the ADM girls leading the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area with a top 10 finish. The Tigers were ninth in Class 3A with 29 points and five events placing sixth or higher, including one runner-up and three third place finishes. Junior sprinter Kari Dufoe finished second in the 100 meter dash, third in the 200 meter dash, and she anchored a pair of relays to third place finishes. Dufoe was joined by Haley Schepers, Torrie Hook and Regan Engleman on the third place 4 x 200 meter relay, and the 4 x 400 was also third with Hook, Engleman, and Dufoe being joined by Brianna Mueller.
The ADM boys had their moments as well, finishing in 20th place with 12 points. Senior Hurdler Tate Jensen led the was by placing second in the 400 meter low hurdles and sixth in the 110 meter high hurdles.
Greene County’s boys were tied for 22nd place in 3A with 11 points and senior sprinter Roman Phillips scored all 11. He was third in the 100 meter dash and fourth in the 200.
Greene County scored four points and placed in two girls’ events. Senior hurdler Kate Sandage was sixth in the 100 meter hurdles race and she was joined by freshman Nadia Fisher, and juniors Mollie Sorber and Sarah Sandage on the eighth place shuttle hurdle relay. Sorber took the place of junior Eme Johnson, who suffered an injury in the 400 meter hurdles final on Friday and wasn’t able to compete on Saturday.
Perry had a place winner in junior Will Whiton, fifth in the 100 meter dash. this marked the fifth time in Whiton’s career he medaled at a state track and field meet.
