baseballThe long offseason is finally over for the ADM baseball team… the 2014 season begins tonight.

The Tigers will be taking on Interstate-35 at home in their season opener.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:30.

Head coach Jason Book, now in his second year as the Tigers’ head man, says he’s been chomping at the bit for this night to finally arrive.

“We’re still a little heartbroken after the snake bite we got last season, so the guys are really eager to get back into competition and compete against somebody else and see where we’re at.  We’ll get ourselves a new grade and then start improving throughout the season.”

ADM went 29-10 and won the Raccoon River Conference last year.  The Tigers then advanced all the way to the substate final before losing to conference foe Boone.

It will be tough to duplicate what they did a year ago, but Coach Book is confident his Tigers have another great season in them.

“I think that our record is going to fall about the same.  We may have a few more losses just because we don’t quite have the experience on the mound and at a couple key positions in the infield, but as hard as these guys have worked, I have no doubt in my mind that they will put themselves in a position to earn a spot into the state tournament.”

To hear our full season previewing conversation with Coach Book, tune-in to tonight’s “Around the Bases” program from 6 to 7 on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
