The Greene County softball team opened the 2014 season with a convincing victory in Jefferson over Saydel  on Tuesday night. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team won 11-2 behind the 10 strikeout, zero walk performance of junior pitcher Marissa Promes, and an offense that produced 12 hits. The Rams had two errors while the Eagles had four hits and five errors.

Junior Emma Saddoris doubled twice and knocked in two runs while junior Kayla Mobley produced a two-run double, and junior Hannah Onken doubled, singled, and had one RBI. Sophomore Carleigh Paup had two singles and a one run batted in, and junior Tressa Rasmussen singled twice. Junior Bailey Godwin singled and had one RBI, while junior Emily Christensen and sophomore Sydney Koch both singles.

Greene County remains at home tonight vs. Roland-Story (Story City) from the City Diamond on East Lincolnway. The varsity game can be heard on KG98 with coverage at 7:15 p.m. and the first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.
