The Perry softball team smacked 13 hits and Julie Diw and Lindsey Kunch connected for long home runs in Perry’s 8-3 season opening win against North Polk.  Katelyn Whelchel finished 4-4 with a double and Rachel Kinney added a pair of hits.  “It was nice to have the focus and be sharp right out of the gate,” added Perry Head Coach Tina Kenney.  “We have lost a few early season games over the years so it was nice to see the kids come out and execute and play with confidence.”

Freshman Emma Olenjzack picked up the win allowing only 2 earned runs in working the complete game while striking out 7.

Perry (1-0) will return to action tonight for the Raccoon River Conference opener against Winterset at the PAC.  You can listen to the game on AM 1310 KDLS and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com beginning at 7:00.
