The Perry boys soccer team will take on Clear Creek Amana tomorrow afternoon at 2:35 at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.  The Bluejays are the number two seed while CCAmana enters as the number seven seed in 2A.  The Perry defense has been the key to the team’s strong surge this year.  Defenseman Pat Ferusca and foreign exchange student Gustov Winterberg are two of the main keys along Perry’s back line.

“I had a feeling that this year might be a little different from previous seasons,” said Ferusca.  “We had a couple of near misses but this year’s team from day one always believed.  These boys are a special group and I am happy to be a part of it.  I really believe we can get this done…I really do.”

Winterburg arrived in Perry at the start of the year from his home country of Denmark.  “Playing soccer here in the states is so much different from back home in Denmark.  It is all club soccer at home and not a lot of excitement or enthusiasm.  I can’t believe how much support we get here and all the people talking about it.  The energy and enthusiasm is great!”

The public is invited to come out to the High School Commons tonight from 5 to 7 to enjoy a send off barbeque honoring this year’s Bluejay soccer team.  Hy Vee will be grilling hamburgers, chips and drink for five dollars.  The public is encouraged to come out and show your support and wish the Bluejays good luck representing Perry at this year’s state soccer tournament.
