Greene County SheriffA car-versus-4-wheeler accident sends one person to a hospital with minor injuries.

Greene County Chief Deputy Sheriff Jack Williams says at 11:10am on Thursday, the sheriff’s office and Churdan Rescue responded to an accident in the 1400 block of 100th Street, on the Greene and Webster County line.

Williams states that 61 year-old Donna Ruth of Gowrie was traveling east on 100th Street when her 2010 Chevrolet Impala hit a 4-wheeler driven by a 13 year-old minor causing damage to both vehicles and injuries to the 13 year-old male.

Williams notes that the minor was taken to the Lake City Hospital by Churdan Rescue with minor, non-life threatening injuries and his current condition is unknown at this time.  Williams points out that the 13 year-old was driving a Honda 250 TRX on his family’s property and was turning around on the gravel road when the accident occurred.

Williams reminds motorists to be aware of 4-wheelers on gravel roads in the rural parts of the county.

No citations or charges were issued and Ruth’s vehicle sustained $3,000 in damages while the 4-wheeler had $1,500 in damages.  Williams adds that Ruth was uninjured in the accident.
