The Greene County baseball team improved to 6-12 overall and 6-8 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play after winning 9-3 in Collins on Wednesday night vs. CMB. The Raiders fell to 5-11 overall and 4-10 in the league and the two teams split the season series.Greene County got on the board early with four runs in the first, one in the second, one in the third, and three runs in the fourth. CMB had a run in the third and two in the sixth.

Junior Colton Fitzpatrick improved his season pitching record to 4-2 with a complete game, 13 strikeout performance. The right hander allowed five hits, walked three batters and did not hit anyone. The Rams committed two errors and one of the three CMB runs was unearned. The Raiders had six errors.

The Rams had 11 hits including three singles and one run batted in from Jordan Challen. Dylan McConnell hit a triple and single, and he drove in a run, while JC Weitl doubled, singled, and he knocked in a run. Riah Nelsen singled and had one RBI, and Alex Rasmussen, Jordan Hostetler, and Tyler Beger all added base hits.

Next up for Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams is a home date at Allensworth Field in Jefferson on Friday night vs. South Hamilton (Jewell) on KG98 with first pitch expected around 7:30 p.m.
