The Perry baseball team has had a tough go this week after seeing their nine game winning streak snapped Monday night in Winterset.  The Bluejays followed up that loss with a 9-2 setback on Carroll.  A big reason for the Perry success this year has been improvement at the plate, especially during their recent winning streak.

“I would say hitting has been the biggest improvement so far during the past few weeks.  Hitting is such a mental part of the game and we have been working with them pretty hard in the cages.  It is up to each individual to put in the necessary self discipline and time to work hard in the cages when the coaches aren’t around.  Make every swing count and work as hard as you can.  If you have that self discipline in the cages, than hitting will take care of itself,” commented Perry Head Coach Mike Long.

Perry is currently 5-4 in RRC action as they trail Winterset by 2 games in the loss column.  Perry still has remaining conference games against Boone, Bondurant Farrar, Carlisle, Ballard and Winterset.  The Perry and Boone game scheduled for last night was postponed to Saturday, July 12th with a 10 am JV start and 12 noon varsity.
