mcfarland_logoRaccoon Valley Radio previously reported that the Board of Trustees for Greene County Medical Center voted to terminate its lease with McFarland Clinic.

So what’s next for the Ames-based organization in Jefferson?

Marketing and Public Relations Director Shelley Goecke explains what the plans are after when their lease runs next June.

“We want to ensure our patients and the residents of Jefferson and the surrounding communities, that McFarland Clinic intends to continue to practice in the Jefferson community providing both primary care and speciality care.”

She says the clinic has been in Jefferson for 20 years.  The practices include family and adult medicine, cardiology, podiatry, oncology, urology, neurology, allergy, OB GYN and ears, nose and throat physicians.

The Board decided to terminate their lease agreement with the clinic following their approval of establishing a UnityPoint Clinic.

Goecke notes that they have 12 clinical offices in Iowa and provide additional physicians to visit other communities in other facilities.  Currently there are 16 employees at the clinic on the west side of the medical center’s campus.

Goecke adds that they are currently looking for a new facility to house their services and will let patients and the community know where they will be located before their current lease is expired next year.

The one-year notification will allow UnityPoint Clinic transition time to establish providers in Jefferson.
