An already good high school softball regular season could turn into one of the best ever for a Jefferson-based program if the Rams can win their last three games. The last week of the regular season begins tonight with Greene County at 22-6 overall and 13-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Rams and PCM (Monroe) each have just two conference losses and they split the two regular season meetings with each other. The other eight conference teams are out of the title chase.

Greene County has three HOIAC games left and two of those are at home starting tonight with Nevada. After Tuesday off, the Rams play North Polk in Alleman Wednesday before ending the regular season in Jefferson on July 3 vs. Gilbert. Three wins means no worse than a tie for the conference title for a third straight season. The three opponents left on the schedule are in eighth, ninth, and tenth place in the 10 team HOIAC. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team is 7-0 at home this year.

Softball tonight can be heard on KG98 with coverage scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
