Jacob Ore

Police Chief Dave Morlan says at 7:27am on Monday, a domestic disturbance was reported at 701 North Cedar Street at Lot 26.  He states that 36 year-old Jacob Aurther Ore was allegedly chasing his wife, 32 year-old Freedom Ore with what appeared to be a two-foot long sword during an argument.

Morlan notes that after the argument, Jacob was located walking on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks west of the Cedar Street crossing while Freedom was found walking down Perry Street.  Following an investigation, Morlan adds that Jacob was arrested and charged with several simple misdemeanors including domestic abuse assault, public intoxication, disorderly conduct for fighting and causing a public disturbance and trespassing for being on the UP Railroad’s property.

Prior to the report, Morlan notes that his department has dealt with these two individuals about eight times in the past couple of months for arguing and causing a public disturbance.

At 6:32pm on Sunday, Freedom called the police department to report harassment by Jacob at the same location at 701 North Cedar Street and then at 4:09am on Monday, Kimberly Smith reported that they were both at her home at 304 West Head Street fighting and screaming at each other.  Freedom was also accused of attempting to set a mattress on fire at Smith’s house.

Morlan adds that no other charges will be filed at this time and Jacob Ore was booked and has been released from the Greene County Jail.

Iowa Courts Online shows that Ore was convicted of a felony charge for third degree burglary in Dallas County in 1996.
