The school district and athletic teams based in Jefferson have been going under the name Greene County for some time, but it’s now official. With the first of July comes the start of a new fiscal year for schools and the new official school name. Also official is Dean Lansman as the Activities Director. He’s been the “interim” A.D. for much of the recently completed school year.

Coach Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio that facilities are one of the things he and the other administrators are constantly evaluating, and he talked about the outdoor facilities in Jefferson. “The football field is scheduled to get new bleachers, which are badly needed. The people that take care of our outdoor facilities do a really good job, and for the most part, our outdoor facilities are in good shape. One thing you hear now and then is that it would be nice to have the baseball and softball diamonds both at the high school. Fans, especially parents with kids in both sports, have a hard time watching baseball at Allensworth Field just east of the football field, and watching softball on the City Field on east Lincolnway.”

New bleachers at Linduska Field are a year away, according the Lansman, and should be installed in time for the start of the 2015-16 school year.
