Guthrie Co. CourthouseThe Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday for their first meeting this week.

Guthrie County Treasurer Marci Schreck began the meeting with an update from her department.  Schreck says Guthrie County did issue more driver’s licenses again last fiscal year, though the increase was not as great as the year before.

Overall, driver’s license issuances were up by 261 from the previous fiscal year, and eight individual months out of the year saw increased issuance.

Schreck also discussed the recent tax certificate sale held by the county.  244 parcels were up for sale at the June 16th sale, and 138 have been sold.  72 county-held tax lien certificates still remain unclaimed at this time, many of them being at Diamondhead Lake.

Schreck says the reason many county-held certificates remain unclaimed is because investors are pickier today about what they will and will not purchase.  She says most all certificates were taken in previous year-end sales.

After Schreck’s Treasurer’s Office update, the Supervisors approved a couple of different items.  Fireworks permits were approved for Guthrie County resident Paul Davis and the Scheiring family, which runs the annual “Fire in the Sky” fireworks display at Lake Panorama.

The Supervisors also approved six applications from Guthrie County disabled veterans to receive homestead tax credits.

There is still nothing on the agenda for tomorrow’s Board meeting.
