The task is simple for the Greene County softball team; win the last three regular season games and finish atop the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference for a third straight season. The Rams tied with North Polk (Alleman) and PCM (Monroe) at the top of the conference in 2013, and PCM and the Rams tied for first place two seasons ago.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 22-6 overall and 13-2 in the conference, and wins in Alleman tonight vs. NP, in Jefferson tomorrow night vs. Gilbert, and on Monday, July 7 in Jefferson vs. Nevada, would mean no worse than a tie for first place again. Greene County has won 10 of its last 11 games. The Rams also would have the opportunity to win the conference title outright if second place PCM loses down the stretch and the Rams win out.

The July 7 contest with Nevada is varsity only at 5:30 p..m and is a make up game from the rain out of June 30. KG98 will broadcast the July 3 and July 7 games to end the regular season.

The postseason for Greene County begins on July 8 in Wall Lake vs. East Sac County on KG98. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
