fireworksWhile today is officially Independence Day, tomorrow is actually the highly anticipated fireworks night out at Lake Panorama.

The annual “Fire in the Sky” display is organized by Joe and Rita Scheiring every year, and tomorrow’s show will actually be their 20th year coordinating the event.  Rita says lake residents should expect to experience yet another entertaining night.

“It’s not just a small display, this is a big one… It lasts about 40 minutes plus, just depends.  This year we’ll go over a little bit because we did have a few large donations this year.  So we actually met budget and even went over a little bit, so it will be a little bit bigger display.”

With Joe and Rita Sheiring having been around for all 20 years of “Fire in the Sky,” Rita discusses for us how much the event has grown through the years.

“I think when it first started Joe said it was a $750 display and those ones of the smaller size he did on his own.  But then so many people enjoyed it as it was always a bigger and better show each year because (Joe) always tried to increase (the size) a little bit, and… you know what it does, it’s a great family time for the people at Lake Panorama.”

Tomorrow’s Fire in the Sky display will begin at dusk weather permitting.  With thunderstorms in the forecast, the tentative rain date for the show will be Sunday night.

The Iowa DNR reminds lake boaters that running lights are required to be left on during the display as a safety and legal measure.
