Today is the first day of the 2014 Greene County Fair in Jefferson.

Tonight’s main event is the 4-H and FFA dog agility competition at the bus barn on the east end of the fairgrounds.  Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds describes some of the things that the agility show includes tonight.

“You will see at the show tonight that they have different disciplines that they walk them through.  Some of them may involve a jump or some sort, there’s also a tunnel that they can run through and much more.”

The activities on Wednesday include the 4-H and FFA poultry show at Clover Hall from 1-7pm followed by a photo scavenger hunt for youth ages 4th-12th grades starting at 4pm and the evening’s main event is the 4-H and FFA dog show at the bus barn at 5pm.

Reynolds says the photo scavenger hunt involves teams of four youth with a team name.  Those teams walk around the fairgrounds taking pictures from a list of items to find and the first team to correctly turn in all their photos win prizes.
